RC Aircraft Workshop Organized

The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a two days student training programme on RC Aircraft Design for the final year B.E. students on 3rd and 4th April 2017. A radio-controlled aircraft (often called RC aircraft or RC plane) is a small flying machine that is controlled remotely by an operator on the ground using a hand-held radio transmitter. The objective of the training programme was to design, build and test a RC Aircraft, to create awareness of practical aspects of Aircraft and also to enhance the knowledge and skills of the students in the Aeronautics domain.

The trainers were Anand Sengar and Atul Hari from Aerotrix, a division Skyfi Education Labs, Bangalore. AerotriX is the leading education provider in the field of Aeromodelling in India delivering quality services through hands-on, practical, application-oriented workshops, trainings, projects and internships.

The theory and practical session was appreciated by the students.

Details of workshop are provided below

  • 3 April 2017
Morning: Theory session on history of aircraft, aerodynamics and aeromodelling
After noon: Design calculations of RC Aircraft.
  • 4 April 2017
    Morning: Fabrication of RC Aircraft
After noon: Testing, Flying and Air Show at AITM ground.

Dr. Fazlur Rahman K (Head and Professor of Mechanical Engineering) welcomed the gathering.  Principal Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Bhavikatti and Dr. Udaya Prasanna (Director of Research) presided over the programme. Prof. Ganesh Panchal(Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering) coordinated the entire event.
